What is different for Canadians

An eTA is for flying to Canada. It does nothing for Vietnam. eVisa vs eTA

A flight from Vancouver or Toronto can land two calendar days after it leaves. Set the eVisa start date by your landing day in Vietnam, or earlier, because every date label on the form refers to entry.
Vietnam's working day falls overnight in Canada. A Sunday evening in Canada is already Monday morning in Vietnam, so a Monday night flight may not need the weekend tier.
