Vietnam visa exemption for Chinese tour groups to Khanh Hoa (Nha Trang)
Tour groups only. Under Resolution 325/NQ-CP, signed 12 October 2026, mainland Chinese citizens on a package tour of two or more people, run by a Vietnamese international travel company, can visit Khanh Hoa province without a visa if they fly direct to Cam Ranh and leave from it. The pilot runs to 31 December 2027. Independent travelers are not covered (Chinese Embassy in Vietnam, 14 Oct 2026) and still need an eVisa or another visa.

Common trips that fall outside it
Booking your own flight and hotel in Nha Trang: not covered, because you are not on a tour. Two friends traveling on their own: the number fits, but you still need a package tour from a Vietnamese company.
Connecting through Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi or a third country is not a direct flight from the mainland, so it falls outside the wording. A tour that also goes to Da Lat, Hoi An or Ho Chi Minh City leaves Khanh Hoa, and the exemption covers that province only.
All of these need a visa. For most travelers that means an eVisa at US$25 for single entry: Vietnam eVisa for Chinese Citizens. Phu Quoc has its own 30-day exemption, for the island only.
Going on your own? What happens at the airport
Mainland passport holders on an eVisa report an extra step before immigration, where the printout is swapped for a paper visa: Chinese passports and the paper visa. We do not know how tour groups under this pilot are handled at Cam Ranh, because we found no first-hand report yet.
InTimeVisa does not sell tours and is not part of this pilot. We are an independent private agent for eVisa applications. Mainland customers can ask for a quote on WeChat.
Frequently asked questions
Do Chinese tourists need a visa for Nha Trang now?
Not on a qualifying tour. Under Resolution 325/NQ-CP, groups of two or more on a package tour run by a Vietnamese international travel company, flying direct to Cam Ranh, are exempt until 31 December 2027. Independent travelers still need a visa.
Can independent Chinese travelers use this exemption?
No. The Chinese Embassy's notice says independent travelers are not covered.
Are Hong Kong and Macao passports covered?
No. The government's notice excludes them.
Can the tour go to other parts of Vietnam?
The exemption is for Khanh Hoa province only. A tour leaving the province falls outside it, so ask your tour company about a visa.
