Vietnam eVisa on a Taiwan passport: how to fill in the form
Three things catch Taiwan passport holders. Applicants report the country list showing China (Taiwan), so choose that entry and not China. The name fields take only letters and spaces, so a hyphen in your given name becomes a space, as in DA MING for DA-MING. Joining the two parts into DAMING has brought files back for amendment.

Country list
Applicants wrote in 2023, 2024 and 2026 that the option reads China (Taiwan) or China(Taiwan), (blog, Jan 2024) and that Taiwan on its own does not appear. (blog, Apr 2026) One agent says to select Taiwan. We did not open the live list, so read it on the day. The wording is the portal's own setting, and it decides nothing else about your application. Taiwan's consular office confirms that Taiwan passport holders can apply through the portal. (BOCA, updated 15 Sep 2026)
Names
The portal's fields are First name (Middle and given name) and Last name (Surname). Its help text says to copy the ICAO line, the machine-readable lines at the bottom of the passport page, in capitals. Any character other than a letter or space gets the message Only Latin characters allowed, no special characters. (portal interface text, read 4 Nov 2026)
| On the passport | Field | Type |
|---|---|---|
| WANG | Last name (Surname) | WANG |
| DA-MING | First name (Middle and given name) | DA MING |
| Bottom line, usually: WANG<<DA<MING | Compare with what you typed | A single chevron between DA and MING is your space. Check your own passport |
What applicants ran into
Joined names. A PTT poster in September 2023 reported a file returned for the name, then approved in about 5 days after adding the space. We saw this as a search excerpt, not the full thread.
Surname and given name swapped. PTT posts from 2024 report this mistake, with mixed outcomes at the border. If it happens to you, file again.
Dates. Applicants asking for 8 to 15 October received a visa to 23 October, (vocus) and one 2024 blogger got about a week extra. Reports also describe the Grant e-Visa valid from and valid to fields moving after other fields were edited. Read them again before you submit, and keep your exit date inside the range.
Photos. Taiwan bloggers passed the face check at 79%, 66% and about 80%. (vocus, 2025) Forum posts say cropping to the 4x6 shape fixed upload errors for some. The portal warns on a low match and on a portrait captured from another source, and does not say why. See Vietnam eVisa photo requirements.
Local address. Forum titles mention the hotel's ward missing from the list. Give the full street address, as in the portal's example.
The result. Applicants report that the email can be late or missing. One found the download on the status page with no message. Look it up yourself with the e-Visa code, email and date of birth.
Payment and fees
The fee is US$25 single or US$50 multiple, charged in Vietnamese dong. Taiwan bloggers and an agent suggest entering your billing address in English, and one says a missing Billing button means the payment did not finish. Forum excerpts mention failures that stopped after the First and Last name on the card page were corrected, so check that too. See Vietnam eVisa payment failed or Unpaid before you pay twice.

Frequently asked questions
What nationality do I select with a Taiwan passport?
Applicants report the option as China (Taiwan). Choose that one and not China. We did not open the live list, so read it when you apply.
My given name has a hyphen. What do I type?
A space. The form accepts only letters and spaces, so DA-MING becomes DA MING. Do not join it into DAMING.
Do I need to buy a flight first?
We found no ticket requirement in the portal's interface text, and forum posters say tickets were not needed.
Would you rather we fill it in?
We prepare, lodge and track the file. InTimeVisa is a private agent; the issuing authority decides.
